Christian Pulisic is the highest-profile player on the United States Men’s National Team entering the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Not only is he the Americans best player, Pulisic has also become one of the most commercially valuable American athletes, in the world.
Most salary databases report only his annual AC Milan salary, but that figure only tells part of Pulisic’s financial story. Professional footballers operating across international tax jurisdictions often face a complicated combination of income taxes, agent commissions, currency conversion costs, image-rights structures, and residency considerations.
APSM’s Net Contract Model estimates what Pulisic may ultimately retain after taxes, agent fees, and other career-related expenses. For elite athletes, gross contract income is only the starting point to net worth.

Why Pulisic’s Financial Profile Is Different
Pulisic’s salary is only one component of his overall earning power. Unlike many professional footballers, he benefits from substantial commercial value within the United States market. His role as the face of American soccer has helped create endorsement and sponsorship opportunities that extend well beyond club compensation.
As a result, his net worth trajectory may ultimately be driven as much by commercial partnerships as on-field salary. That distinction separates him from most players on the 2026 USMNT roster.
2026 FIFA World Cup Financial Impact
Players generally do not receive their club salaries from FIFA during the World Cup itself. Instead, the tournament functions as a global marketing accelerator. Strong performances can influence:
- Future contract negotiations
- Sponsorship opportunities
- Brand partnerships
- Appearance fees
- Long-term commercial value
For Pulisic, the 2026 FIFA World Cup may represent the single most important earning opportunity of his career outside of club football. As captain and face of the United States program, no American player enters the tournament with greater commercial upside.

The Bottom Line
- Confirmed base gross contract value: ~$6 million annually
- Estimated net take-home salary: ~$3.2 million annually
While Christian Pulisic took a nominal base salary pay cut moving from Chelsea to AC Milan, his true contract value is structurally amplified by Milan’s aggressive media positioning and his retained domestic image rights. On paper, his Serie A club contract is a mid-tier deal compared to bench-players in the NBA or NFL.
In reality, it serves as the ultimate international anchor that validates his status as a global icon, unlocking an off-pitch commercial engine that dwarfs his actual playing salary.
Christian Pulisic AC Milan Salary FAQs
How much does Christian Pulisic make a year at AC Milan?
Christian Pulisic earns a base gross salary of approximately €5.13 million per year (roughly $6 million USD) under his current AC Milan contract. This base contract places him among the top five highest-earning players on the Milan first-team roster.
What is the difference between net and gross salaries in Italian soccer?
Unlike American sports leagues where salaries are reported before taxes (gross), Italian football media routinely reports player contracts using net figures (after-tax take-home pay). Under Pulisic’s baseline terms, his €5.13 million gross contract converts to an estimated net take-home salary of roughly €2.5 million to €3 million after Italy’s top-tier national tax brackets are applied.
Is Christian Pulisic the highest-paid player on the USMNT roster?
Yes, Christian Pulisic’s $6.03 million club salary remains the financial benchmark for the United States Men’s National Team pool. While teammates like Weston McKennie have closed the gap with premium extensions, Pulisic’s comprehensive valuation, anchored by his Milan contract and an unparalleled $20 million endorsement portfolio, makes him the team’s highest earner.
Does Christian Pulisic retain his image rights under his AC Milan contract?
Yes. One of the most critical structural components of Pulisic’s transition to Serie A was the retention of his U.S. and global commercial image rights. While AC Milan controls his club-branded likeness in Europe, Pulisic retains autonomous commercial control over his blue-chip individual partnerships, allowing him to scale his off-pitch earnings independently.
